Thirsty Thursday

It's time for my first Thirsty Thursday link up with Trish @ Tales from Trish and Jenn @ Going to the Distance.  Join us for a Virtual Happy Hour!  The only way it could get better is if it were a real happy hour!

Frozen Strawberry Mojitos

Pinned Image

Ingredients:

            1 can frozen limeade
1/2 can (the one that held the limeade) rum
2 cups frozen strawberries
muddled mixture of a few leaves of fresh mint
pulp of two limes.
Put all ingredients in a blender and give it a whirl! Makes two large servings, which could easily work for four normal sized portions.  But who wants a normal portion?!?

Ok now that I have my drink let's get to talking!

I am so excited about our night out tomorrow.  We went to this new place opened in Evansville last weekend, The Backstage Bar and Grill, and tomorrow Edwin McCain is going to perform there (you know Edwin, "I'llllllll be your crying shouuuulderrr!") We got tickets, and I can't wait!

I am needing this drink in real life because there is still no word on my current job situation.  And now the principal said it's going to be Mayh 8th before he knows anything more.  UGH!  So much waiting!

I have hit a wall in my weightless adventure.  I lost 15 lbs, and then I gained about 5 over Easter/ my birthday, and now I am STUCK.

Wish I could talk more but I have to head off to job #2!

Happy Thirsty Thursday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

It's Wednesday yet again!  So it's time for my favorite link up of the week with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh So Pinteresting Wednesday!

Today I am loving that tomorrow is like a Friday!  We have ANOTHER snow-make up day on Friday so there's no school.  Isn't global warming the best?!?

I also found out that we are having a field trip on Thursday!  Our class gets to participate in our county's Special Olympics (we our going to rock 'em!).  I had no idea it was coming up so soon!  Time flys!
I am loving that my Tuesday morning Walking Club that I started at school is going so well!  The kids really seem to like it, and a ton of them have been showing up to walk every Tuesday morning!

I am loving the DOG Books (Daily Organization Guide Books...more to come on that later) that I am working on for my (currently fictional) classroom next year!  I might not have a full-time position yet, but I will be soooo ready when it happens!  I can't take the credit for this idea though.  One of the other kindergarten teachers got the idea from the teacher of a girl who transferred to our school.  We are just tweaking it to suit our needs!

I am loving my many Pinterest finds this week.  Click on the pictures to pin them for yourselves!

Remember my flowers pots from the WILW post here ? Well I started on those last weekend, sprayed the pots black, ran out of spray paint so I stopped....Well now I found these!  Look how cute they are!  Good thing I already started on the other ones or else I would have to make these, and they look a little more challenging!

I guess I am just not that hungry this week because this is my ONLY new recipe.  Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortellini Soup.  I love my slow-cooker, and I love tortellini so I'm sure it's a winner!

I am loving these pretty outfits.  I have a lot of outfits this week.  Hmmm maybe that means a shopping spree is in my future?

Pinned Image

I LOVE this loooong skirt.  I wish I could wear something like this, but I have a feeling that I would be hard-pressed to find a skirt that is THAT long on me, unless I made it.  And let me tell ya, I am many things, but a seamstress is not one of them!

I am LOVING this pretty navy dress.  Very classy.  I feel like if I owned this, I would need a yacht to go with it.

I don't know which I love more, this coral blazer or her!  LOVE Miranda Kerr.

I am loving this cake.  Sometime I will have to make something like this for the boy because, let's admit, it happens to the best of us!

Last but not least, I love this quote.

Pinned Image
I used to hate it in college when I would a have a really awesome GPA, and someone of a different major would have a lower GPA and would claim that "It's because your Elementary Education."  NO IT'S NOT.  MOST of us work really hard at what we do and deserve to have a higher GPA than you.  THANKS.

MOST teachers teach because it's what they love, not because they aren't smart so it was their only option.  I personally think that the bar should be raised a little...but that's just me.  Okay.  I'm off my soap box.  That quote just brought back some angry opinionated feelings.

I almost forgot!  I am loving the new Thirsty Thursday link up Trish @ Tales from Trish and Jenn @ Going the Distance are doing on Thursdays.  I didn't get to participate last week due to the fact that I didn't get home until it was almost Friday!  But this week, I'll be there!

And last but never least, I am loving my life with a cherry on top!  Even if it is crazy and busy and some more crazy!

Happy Wednesday!

Busy Lizzy

UGH! Why is the end of the school year so busy?!? Is it always like this?

I have been a busy Lizzy trying to find a job, coordinating our Relay for Life team, co-coordinating the school talent show, starting a Walking Club, getting things ready for my (currently fictional) classroom, designing the May bulletin board, blah blah blah.

I think I have bitten off more than I can chew.

Seriously.  I don't know if I can even make it... to Friday.

It doesn't even matter that there are 20- something or less (I don't even know) days of school left because I can't even think about that right now...There's too much to do before then!

On a more positive note, I think all this coordination and preparation means I am ready to join The Junior League.

Just one more small side note:
I typed "stressed out face" into google to find a picture of how I feel and this is what popped up.

This is certainly NOT how I am feeling, but I hope to feel that pleasant very soon!

Posting this actually has made me feel a little more like this nice lady so thanks for reading. :-)

Missing the Boat

I'm so sad today!  Because I missed the boat for the Thirsty Thursday link up with Trish @ Tales from Trish and Jenn @ Going to the Distance.  Trish was one of my very first followers, so of course I want to help her out!  But here it is...Friday...and I didn't get to do because I didn't get home until about 11:00 last night.   But there's always next week!

TGIF!  Taking a day off in the middle of the week makes the rest of the week really hard!
Happy Friday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I can't believe its already Wednesday!  I know I said that last week, but time is flying!  I can't keep up!  Of course I am linking up with Jamie @ This Kind of Love for What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple for Oh So Pinteresting Wednesday!

Today I am loving that it is my mom's birthday!  Happy Birthday Momma!
My mom is seriously the best mom a girl could ask and my best friend!  I look up to her so much!
She is also going to kill me for putting this picture on here because I know she hates it, but that's what happens when you hate having your picture taken.  There is not much to choose from.  ;-)
P.S. I am not a huge fan of it either.

I am loving that I took the day off today because I have 3 personal days to use before the end of the year, and I thought it would be nice to go out to lunch with my mom for her birthday!

I am loving that there is only 22 days of school left!  Or maybe I am not loving that...I am going to be VERY sad if I have to leave my school next year, but I am excited for summer!

And summer means the Olympics, which they have been talking about on the Today Show all morning!  They are only 100 days away!  I'm not too into sports unless I am going to watch a game in person, but the Olympics are another story.  I LOVE the Olympics!

Here is what I am loving from Pinterest this week:

Speaking of summer...I can't wait to go to the drive-in!  Load up the back of a truck with pillows and blankets.  Looks so comfy!

Also speaking of summer... I can't wait to go on a picnic and lay in the grass watching the clouds.  Sounds so corny, but I could use a day to lay around and do nothing!

I am loving these pretty outfits!

Love the coral and leopard combo.  So pretty.

You think this is the same girl? I love the tied belt with the cardigan.

I love this pretty outfit that my very own sister created on Polyvore.

I know it is only 7:00 am, but this food looks/sounds so yummy!

Balsamic tortellini salad- with chicken, spinach, and tomatoes

Light BBQ chicken pizza.  I made this on Monday and cooked it on the grill.  I am not kidding when I say it is one of the best things I ever eaten.  I love BBQ chicken pizza!

Zucchini fries. If you like zucchini you will love these baked zucchini fries with sweet onion dip.  So good!

Wouldn't that be a great life!?!

I always find stuff when I clean up my room!  Even at 23 years old!

And one final thought that I just have to add because I am really loving it right now.  I just got a new printer.  I am in my bedroom, and the printer is printing IN THE LIVING ROOM!  Why did I wait so long to purchase a wifi printer!?!

And as always, I am loving my life with a cherry on top!
That's all for today!  What are loving on this Wednesday?  It's going to be a good one!

Buggy Word Families

Since our Reading/ Language Arts unit is now over, and we have finished the alphabet, we have been working on word families.  I have been racking my brains for different word family activities to do during reading groups.

My partner in crime, Cori, found these cute fly swatters at Wal-Mart for $1, so I was also trying to think of something we could do with these.

Here is what I came up with:

I cut out a bunch of different color bugs, glued them to a piece of white construction paper and laminated it to keep in nice and neat.  Each color is a different family.  There is one word on each poster that does not belong in that word family.  The kiddos have to find the word that doesn't belong and swat it with the fly swatter.  Let me jusy say, that they LOVE it!  They were hitting the words as hard as they could!

Let me also say that this is not how this activity started off. I had a huge piece of bulletin board paper that I taped to the chalk board (easy clean up). Then I taped and grouped the different families together. We did the activity, and they thought it was fun. After reading groups, I started to take it down and throw everything away, but I decided that I spent so much time cutting and writing on the bugs that I didn't want to throw them away! So I was trying to think of a more permanent idea that I could use over and over for centers, etc., and this is want I came up with!  I thought it would look really homemade, but it didn't turn out half bad!

P.S.  This is what my desk looks like right now.

It matches my currently chaotic life.  I feel like all I do is run around like a chicken with its head chopped off.  From the time I wake up until about 10:00pm it's rush rush rush!  On it, you can see my purse (which I didn't have time to put away), lesson plan ideas, printable books, progress monitoring tests (which I can't seem to get done no matter how hard I try), Relay for Life flyer (which I finally finished and sent home with all the students at my school), among other random papers that I don't know what to do with!  YIKES!  It all comes with the "end-of-the-year-finding-a-full-time-job-craziness".  But the good news is, I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Yay!

Happy Tuesday!

April Bulletin Board

Since April is now more than halfway over, I figured I better get to sharing my April bulletin board!  My bulletin board this month is inspired by Teri @ A Cupcake for the Teacher.  I saw her board and April duck-y unit, and I just couldn't resist! Click on the link to check out her stuff!

"WADDLE we do when it rains?"  I used the Cri-cut to cut out the letters.

I made the splashing duck out of consruction paper.

I cut rain drops out of white construction paper.  We had the kids tear off pieces of blue tissue paper and glue them to the rain drop shape.  Then for a finishing touch, I mounted them on consruction paper and laminated them!  I used the same method for the splashes.  We try to fit in art where ever we can since our kids don't get to go to art...PLUS I have my art minor so why not!?!

Then we had them write about what they like to do on rainy days.  I love kindergarten spelling!

I also love how some of them refer to their siblings "my _____" like they own them.  Melts my heart.
<3

We have gotten so many compliments of this board!  Thanks Teri!
