A Peep of a Post

I'm still on my bloggy break, but I just couldn't help but to pop in and say hi!  I am dying to get back to blogging again, but I feel like (and know that) I really need to focus on my classroom, lesson plans, and getting prepared for the upcoming school year!  My living room has turned into a classroom factory!

And that's after I tried to contain it!

I have lots to share with you when I come back!

See you soon!

{I need this shirt.}

I thought models were supposed to be tall?

First let me start off by saying that I bought this dress that I saw on Pinterest.

It's super cute and I love it, but I have one complaint...

It's too short!

Aren't models supposed to be tall?

So why are all maxi dresses too short on me, when they are long on the models?

Apparently models aren't really that tall.

Or I am really tall.  It's probably that.

Anyways...I wore it on our Friday night date!

We kicked it off by going to the drive-in, but we stopped for dinner and drinks for at Bar Louie first.

I started it off with a Tickled Pink Grapefruit Martini.  My absolute favorite!

Then it was a Raspberry-Peach Bellini!

Then an Effin' Good Cucumber Martini.  Very refreshing!

I had the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread which was very tastey!  I may have eaten the whole thing...I'll never tell.

Then we were on our way to the drive-in!  If you don't have a drive-in near you, I feel bad for you.  There is really no other way to see a movie in the summer as far as I'm concerned.  It costs $8 a person, you get to see 2 movies, bring a cooler, and bring your own comfy seating arrangements!

We saw Turbo which was a lot better than I thought it would be!  I would actually see it again.

And we saw The Heat, which was hilarious!

Saturday night we went up to Kelly's grandparents house to celebrate his aunt and uncle's 25th anniversary.  It was a quick, but fun visit!

Yesterday I went to Target and totally ransacked the dollar section.  I only had 10 minutes before I had to go to church, so I was just throwing things in my basket.  I would say it was a successful trip.

Then it stormed the rest of the evening.

And that was my weekend!

How was yours?

I think I just barfed a little.

When you go to the gym at the same times every day, you tend to see the same people.  For me, I tend to see "the old man at the gym", as I call him.  Let's call him Walter.  That is not his real name, but we will call him that.

So Walter plays tennis, and when he is done playing tennis, he sits at the tables in the lobby and talks to his other old man friends.  Our "friendship" began when I started working out after I got off at the salon, AKA the same time that Walter sits at the tables and talks to his friends.

He started out by saying "You are very fit young lady, you must come here a lot."
"Really? Reeeeally?" I thought.  Very fit would not be a word I would use to describe myself.  Squishy maybe, but not very fit.

The conversations escaladed later on down the road.  When I walked past him, he would point at me and yell, "Hey!  Good to see you!  You're beautiful!".  This went on for a while, and then summer came along, and I started working out during the day too.

Guess who also plays tennis during the day?

He spotted me on a treadmill, and proceeded to hop on the treadmill right next to me.  Greeeeeat.  So we go through the same routine.  "You're so fit, what do you to when you work out?  You are just so beautiful.  Gosh, it's good to see you."  But he also asked me about my life, what I do, how old I was, IF I WAS SINGLE (I was at the time).  Really guy?  I figured out that he was loaded, and lucky for me also single.  I think I just barfed a little in my mouth at that point.  Turns out he knew some people that I knew, so we talked about that for a while.  That's all I remember about that.

Then the regular conversations continued, only now he has his friends on me too.
"Hey!  Here she is!  You look nice tonight.  These are my friends."  His friends call me Miss America. And one of them now sings the Miss America song when I walk through the lobby.  "Here she is!  Miss Americaaaaaa."

Fast forward a few months, and now for whatever reason he is always leaving when I am getting there.  He comes in for the hug, and attempts to kiss me on the cheek.  Only he is short, so the kiss ends up on my neck.  Insert a little barf again.  And since he got a hug now his big sweaty friend wants a hug too.  And then I had to take a shower before I even worked out.

I know what you are thinking, why don't you say something, he is harassing you, blah, blah, blah.  But I never really feel threatened or harassed.  It's one of those things where you just chuckle, roll your eyes, and continue on with your day.  Even the workers know how he is and roll their eyes.

Fast forward to the present, and the awkward neck kisses, hugs, short conversations are continuing.  He also hits a tennis ball at the window to get my attention if he is playing tennis, and now he is calling me Debbie.  "Hey Debbie!"  "How's it going Debbie?"  "Good to see you Debbie!"

"Walter, why are you calling me Debbie?  That is not my name."  But I do not say that, I just let him call me Debbie.  The first time he called me Debbie, I thought I heard him wrong.  Then after he kept calling me that I just let it go.

So yesterday I see him.  "Hey Debbie!  I haven't seen you in a while!  Where have you been?"

"I have been hiding in my car when I see you leaving  I've been here, we must be just missing each other."

He leaves the gym.  I go to yoga.  When yoga is over I head across the street to Starbucks for a morning pick me up.  I walk in the door, and there sits Walter.

Oh great.  Maybe he won't notice me.  Maybe if I play on my phone he'll think I didn't see him.

"HEY DEB!  Are you stalking me?"

So it continues....

Never Ever Ever

Happy Tuesday!  I am linking up with Neely,  Stephanie, and Shelley today for Never Ever Ever to talk about the things that I will never ever ever do!

Never Ever Ever....

-will I be excited for school to start. I love my job, but I just love summer so much more.  I only have 2.5 weeks left! Waaa!

-will I NOT want to spend the day at the pool.  The urge never goes away.  The tan get always get darker.

-will I not enjoy laying in "my spot" on the couch.  I used to never lay on the couch...until we got this couch.  So comfs!

-will I be able to sleep without 4+ pillows.  The more pillows the better as far as I'm concerned.

-will I get caught up on all the house stuff we have left to do.  Yes, I am still complaining about this.  We have been here 4 months, and we still have no blinds or curtains!

-will I NOT love a good date night.  There is one in the works, and it's going to be epic.

Stay cool my friends, and have a great day!

Weekend Full of Weird

Weird beer.  Weird food.  Weird friends.

As I mentioned in this post, I left Kelly home alone with his brothers to head up north and pay a weekend long visit to my very best friend Emily.  My little one.

When I got there on Friday, we had a much needed relaxation sesh at the pool, followed by a trip to Cost Plus World Market.  Have you been there?  I was a virgin, and now I'm in love!

Look at all the stuff I got!

Yes I bought 5 scarves, and yes those are stackable coffee cups in ombre, sunset colors.  I'm in love.

Then we headed to Carmel to get some delicious food.  We ended up at Baxbeaux Pizza.  I was definitely in a weird food mood this weekend.

Antipasto Salad with pepperoni, salami, capicola, baby shrimp, artichoke hearts, hearts of palm (had to look up what those actually were), red onion, black olives, tomatoes.  Oh my gosh, sooooo good!

Get Fresh Pizza.  Fresh, melty mozzarella, house roasted tomatoes that tasted like candy, fresh arugula and drizzled with olive oil & balsamic vinegar.  I ate the whole thing, and I don't even feel bad about it.

Then we went out for frozen yogurt of course.  I didn't take a picture but it was salted caramel popcorn and toffee nut twist.  Heaven.

Saturday, I started my morning off with a bagel and coffee a la Emily.

Then off to the pool again where we practiced our yoga poses in the water like idiots.  I'm sure the other people there enjoyed our game of "Name that Pose".  Emily's friends Sarah and Kim came too!

Then we ate noodles before we went on our brew tour.
Fact:  Carbs + Beer = Less intoxication.

We went to Noodles and Company, and I got the Indonesian Peanut Saute.  It was a spicy peanut sauce with ride noodles, grilled chicken, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, sprouts, cilantro, crushed peanuts and lime.  So yummy...and surprisingly spicy!

Then we were off to catch the bus for our brew tour.  It was like a party bus that drove us around to all the different microbreweries in Indy.  Most of the breweries offered free samples, and we were able to bring our beers on the bus.  It was amazing.

Sarah and I on the bus, on our way to the first brewery.

Emily and Kim...they were on the side of the bus with the good lighting.

The first place we went to was Flat 12 Bierwerks.

Flat12 Bierwerks

It was there that we tried the Kiwi Kiwi Crystal Weiss, a fruity beer that was a little on the sour side, and the Cucumber Kolsch, one of my favorites of the day.  It was light, refreshing, and tasted slightly of cool cucumbers.

Flat 12s Summer Seasonal
I'll be looking for this at the store!

The second place we went was Black Acre Brewing Co.

My favorite of the day was their Apricot Wheat!  I am regretting my decision NOT to buy a growler of the stuff.

The third brewery we went to was Indiana City Brewery.  Although the bartenders were a little rude to us at first, this was my favorite atmosphere.  It was a warehouse-looking building, with open garage doors, and there was a DJ playing music and food trucks in the parking lot.  We got a free tour from one of the guys that worked there, and we decided that we were going to steal his brewery.

This is our "We are going to steal your brewery" picture.  We are going to call it "The Teacher's Union Brewery".  We won't get in trouble for the name right?

This guy hopped in front of the camera....made for a good candid shot.

Then things started getting weird on the bus.

Birthday hats were worn on ears by this strange man.

 Dances were created.  Videos were posted on Vine.  {They would kill me if they knew I put this on here.}

Can you guess what song based on the moves?

Yep.   It's Cruise by Florida-Georgia Line.

The last brewery of the tour was Fountain Square Brewing Co.

And they had...

A teacher beer!  Hop for Teacher Pale Ale!  So appropriate for us.

The tour ended with the perfect drunk-dinner.  A chicken and waffle sandwich with waffle fries.  Thank you Scotty's Brewhouse

Sunday was brunch with my lovely sibs + Whitney!  We went to Bub's Café in Carmel.

They have amazing donuts.

{I had to steal this picture because I got lost and the donuts were already partially eaten when I got there.  The next picture is also stolen because let's face it, there was no time to waste in eating that delicious thing.}

The Breakfast of Burma.  Eggs with green pepper, onion, cheese, topped with tomato chutney (I am still salivating over this), and siracha cream sauce.  It was served with Indian lentils and a tomato tortilla.  FOOD PORN right there.  So weird but so good.

Happy stomachs right there.

Guess who got up super early this morning to run?

This girl, that's who.
