Weird beer. Weird food. Weird friends.
As I mentioned in this post, I left Kelly home alone with his brothers to head up north and pay a weekend long visit to my very best friend Emily. My little one.
When I got there on Friday, we had a much needed relaxation sesh at the pool, followed by a trip to Cost Plus World Market. Have you been there? I was a virgin, and now I'm in love!
Look at all the stuff I got!
Yes I bought 5 scarves, and yes those are stackable coffee cups in ombre, sunset colors. I'm in love.
Then we headed to Carmel to get some delicious food. We ended up at Baxbeaux Pizza. I was definitely in a weird food mood this weekend.
Antipasto Salad with pepperoni, salami, capicola, baby shrimp, artichoke hearts, hearts of palm (had to look up what those actually were), red onion, black olives, tomatoes. Oh my gosh, sooooo good!
Get Fresh Pizza. Fresh, melty mozzarella, house roasted tomatoes that tasted like candy, fresh arugula and drizzled with olive oil & balsamic vinegar. I ate the whole thing, and I don't even feel bad about it.
Then we went out for frozen yogurt of course. I didn't take a picture but it was salted caramel popcorn and toffee nut twist. Heaven.
Saturday, I started my morning off with a bagel and coffee a la Emily.
Then off to the pool again where we practiced our yoga poses in the water like idiots. I'm sure the other people there enjoyed our game of "Name that Pose". Emily's friends Sarah and Kim came too!
Then we ate noodles before we went on our brew tour.
Fact: Carbs + Beer = Less intoxication.
We went to Noodles and Company, and I got the Indonesian Peanut Saute. It was a spicy peanut sauce with ride noodles, grilled chicken, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, sprouts, cilantro, crushed peanuts and lime. So yummy...and surprisingly spicy!
Then we were off to catch the bus for our brew tour. It was like a party bus that drove us around to all the different microbreweries in Indy. Most of the breweries offered free samples, and we were able to bring our beers on the bus. It was amazing.
Sarah and I on the bus, on our way to the first brewery.
Emily and Kim...they were on the side of the bus with the good lighting.
The first place we went to was Flat 12 Bierwerks.
It was there that we tried the Kiwi Kiwi Crystal Weiss, a fruity beer that was a little on the sour side, and the Cucumber Kolsch, one of my favorites of the day. It was light, refreshing, and tasted slightly of cool cucumbers.
I'll be looking for this at the store!
The second place we went was Black Acre Brewing Co.
My favorite of the day was their Apricot Wheat! I am regretting my decision NOT to buy a growler of the stuff.
The third brewery we went to was Indiana City Brewery. Although the bartenders were a little rude to us at first, this was my favorite atmosphere. It was a warehouse-looking building, with open garage doors, and there was a DJ playing music and food trucks in the parking lot. We got a free tour from one of the guys that worked there, and we decided that we were going to steal his brewery.
This is our "We are going to steal your brewery" picture. We are going to call it "The Teacher's Union Brewery". We won't get in trouble for the name right?
This guy hopped in front of the camera....made for a good candid shot.
Then things started getting weird on the bus.
Birthday hats were worn on ears by this strange man.
Dances were created. Videos were posted on Vine. {They would kill me if they knew I put this on here.}
Can you guess what song based on the moves?
Yep. It's Cruise by Florida-Georgia Line.
The last brewery of the tour was Fountain Square Brewing Co.
And they had...
A teacher beer! Hop for Teacher Pale Ale! So appropriate for us.
The tour ended with the perfect drunk-dinner. A chicken and waffle sandwich with waffle fries. Thank you Scotty's Brewhouse.
Sunday was brunch with my lovely sibs + Whitney! We went to Bub's Café in Carmel.
They have amazing donuts.
{I had to steal this picture because I got lost and the donuts were already partially eaten when I got there. The next picture is also stolen because let's face it, there was no time to waste in eating that delicious thing.}
The Breakfast of Burma. Eggs with green pepper, onion, cheese, topped with tomato chutney (I am still salivating over this), and siracha cream sauce. It was served with Indian lentils and a tomato tortilla. FOOD PORN right there. So weird but so good.
Happy stomachs right there.
Guess who got up super early this morning to run?
This girl, that's who.
The brewery tour sounds like so much fun! I'm sure the post-beer chicken and waffle sandwich made it a million times better though!
ReplyDeleteI love drunken bus tours.
