If I had an Elf on the Shelf...

Things I'm sad about:

That Elf on the Shelf was not yet invented when I was a child.

Seriously, I want one so bad!  Unfortunately, I don't have any kids to play along.  I thought about doing it in my classroom, but when the kids have one at home, then they have one in their regular classroom, having one in the art room would be a little too much. There is even one at the after school daycare.  It takes away from the magic.

I have often considered buying one for just Kelly and I because I want one so bad, but I thought it was a little juvenile, until I found this article...

These ideas would make it perfectly acceptable for Kelly and I to have an Elf on the Shelf seeing as they are not at all appropriate for children's eyes!

I will probably never eat one of those cookies again!

Happy Monday!

Top 6 Christmas Movie Must-Watches

Our Christmas Movie Extravaganza had me thinking about all the other Christmas movies we have to watch before the Christmas season is over.  We didn't get to all of them because I didn't really want to stay up all night!

So without further a-do, here is my list of  6 (because I couldn't make up my mind) Christmas movie must-watches!  These are in no particular order because I couldn't exactly pick one over another.  I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling, ya know.

1.  The Holiday

The music is great.  Jude Law is gorgeous.  It gives me the warm fuzzies.

2.  Polar Express

It's magical.  And you have to drink hot chocolate when you watch it.

3.  Elf

I have watched it 597 times, and it's still funny every time.  It's like Mean Girls, it never gets old.

4.  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Clay-mation.  Stop-motion.  Politically incorrect.  Corny.  The perfect Christmas movie!

5.  The Grinch

The teacher in me is a sucker for Dr. Seuss!

6.  A Christmas Carol

I must be a sucker for Jim Carrey too.  Jim Carrey in real life movies...annoying.  Jim Carrey in animated movies...brilliant.

So far I have watched The Holiday, Rudolph, The Grinch, and A Christmas Carol.  I have two more to watch before Christmas!

What are some of your favs for the holiday season?

Snowpocalypse 2013 Day 2...3...4...5...

It's day three of no school!  We have a two hour delay tomorrow, and I will definitely be ready to go back!  I am beginning to wonder how housewives keep their sanity!  I am so bored.

Thankfully, it's Christmas time so there is plenty to do.  Like buy presents, wrap presents, decorate, watch Christmas movies...

Saturday night Kelly and I had our 2nd annual Christmas movie marathon.  I made lots of Pinteresting appetizers.

And we watched Christmas movies all night long, which really meant two movies.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Christmas Carol (not the Donald Duck one, the one with Jim Carrey).

Kelly was SO excited.  Especially since the Bulls were on during all of this.

He was a trooper though.

Especially once I made hot chocolate with snowman marshmallows.

Sunday night we went to dinner at my Grandma's house, and I learned that we didn't have school again.

Then Monday night I found out school was cancelled AGAIN.  So I decided to have some celebratory wine while watching The Voice.

Aaaand tomorrow we have a two hour delay.  So much for accomplishing things at school before Christmas!

At least everyone will be nice and refreshed!

Snowpocalypse 2013 Day 1

Well here I am...school is cancelled again today.  I guess I'll just have to spend another day eating and drinking and watching movies, and wearing clothes that are barely acceptable to the public due to their grungy, stretchiness!

I am only a little freaking out about not getting our projects done before Christmas because we have missed two days now.  Just a little though.  The joy of naptime with my Christmas tree lights on and my favorite blanket are outweighing that worry.

I also am a little worried about the fact that after Christmas break we will not have a day off until Spring break, and that thought scares me a little.  But that's what personal days are for I guess.

Friday morning I woke up expecting a delay of some sort.  There was a slight dusting of snow on the ground, but nothing major, the grass was still visible.  I anxiously awaited as I watched the different businesses and school corporations change at the bottom of the TV screen.   And there it was!  My school corporation!  No school!  Woop woop!

So I went back to bed and 3 hours later, I woke up and ordered a Keurig for 50% off.  They were on super sale thanks to the Today Show's 12 days of deals.

I made myself breakfast, and may or may not have decided to put Irish Cream in my coffee.

Then ordered tickets to see Florida Georgia Line on Valentine's Day.  Then I decided that being out of school is expensive.

I also ventured out into the snow and decided that it was time throw my frozen pumpkins away and decorate for Christmas outside.  By this time it had snowed about 5 inches and it was no where near done.

Then I finished decorating for Christmas on the inside, putting the finishing touches on our new sports-themed tree.

I needed somewhere to put Kelly's ornaments since they don't match the big tree!

Have I mentioned how much I love this thing?!?!

Kelly's office closed early for the day, so he came home.  It had snowed about 8 inches at this point, and my tracks from putting up the lights earlier were completely covered up!

I also folded this giant pile of laundry.

Yes it's all mine.

I put some lampshades on our naked lamps.  I re-vamped then back in March, but never put the new lampshades on them because I thought I bought the wrong kind.  Turns out they were fine all along I just didn't know what I was doing.

Things are finally coming together in this place.

The only bad thing about my day on Friday was that I was snowed-in with no wine.  I would have paid a lot of money for liquor store delivery (business idea anyone?).  Oh and I searched and searched for a pizza place that was still open (because almost everything in the entire town closed early).  Domino's was the winner.  Our pizza took almost two hours to get here, but it sure was delicious when it did!

More snowy goodness to come!

Pins I Love

This cold has been lingering, and just does not seem to want to leave my body!  It's been over a week now.  Just about the only thing that helps is hot tea and Pinterest!  Pinterest makes everything better.  Here are some of my favorite pins lately!

You can find all of my pins here!

Spinach and Cheese Strata.  YUM

Chipotle Butternut Squash Fries

If you see me stealing shutters off someone's house, this is why.

Same goes for windows.

Love this scarf!

And this one too!

This sweater!  Love that green!

I NEED a coffee bar.  Come on Santa!

Have a happy Wednesday!

Worst Christmas Shopper Ever

Last Friday was Black Friday.  Saturday was Small Business Saturday.  Yesterday was Cyber Monday.  And today, today is Shameful Tuesday because I bought absolutely nothing on any of those days.

Black Friday is not really for me, too many people, too much digging for things I want, too much chaos.  I like order, and I do not like to dig when I am shopping.  The former retail worker in me likes nice neat, clean racks, where the hangers are all in line.  That doesn't happen on Black Friday.

I love to shop all the little places on Small Business Saturday.  Little places don't usually have good sales, with the exception of this day.  I'm all about the sale, as long I don't have to hurt anyone.  Unfortunately, we were out of town so I didn't get to go to any of my favorite little shops.

Cyber Monday...This day is my game.  I love to shop from my couch, especially when it's on sale!  I am pretty convinced that Cyber Monday has deals that are just as good as Black Friday, only you don't have to fight someone's grandma for that pair of shoes you've had your eye on.

Last night, as I was hopping into my warm bed with my Nook at 11:30, I realized that I had missed Cyber Monday!  I didn't get home until 8:30, and when I did finally get home, we watched 3 episodes of Parenthood (and why is Hattie never nice to her parents?!) and shopping didn't even come to my mind.

So today is Shameful Tuesday.  Because it is December 3rd.  And I have not marked one name off my Christmas list.

Hey at least I don't have to feel like this right?!

Thanksgiving Shenanigans

I'm back to the daily grind today after a fun-filled Thanksgiving break.  I can already tell that this week is going to be a long one, given all the fun we had this weekend.

Here are some pictures from our Thanksgiving Shenanigans (this is your picture overload warning):

We out for drinks on Thanksgiving Eve to a bar that was way too crowded and way too loud, but nevertheless it was fun.

On Thanksgiving Day we started out with some delicious Bloody Marys (Maries? I'm not sure of the plural word).

Then we took our traditional family picture for our Christmas that almost never actually gets printed.  Sadly, Kelly and I always go to our own Thanksgivings since he has to go to two different celebrations and his family lives out of town.

^^^^^^ I am seriously so thankful for these people. ^^^^^^

Then it was time to eat.  And drink some more.

(The drink was too strong for the momma)

Saturday we went up to visit Kelly's family, and ventured out in our warmest crimson and cream gear to IU's last home game of the season.

We met up with some fellow teachers.

We got home late last night, just in time to decorate the Christmas tree.

Also just in time to watch The Walking Dead and see The Governor get killed.  Yay for that!  Unfortunately, it was at the expense of Hershel, but I can start my week knowing that The Governor is not walking around out there, reeking havoc upon innocent people.

Happy Monday!!!
