Weekend Fun

What a fun weekend!

Friday night we went to Bar Louie to celebrate...well...their awesome tater tots?

Loaded Tater Tots

I don't know if you have had these before, but if you haven't then you need to locate the nearest Bar Louie right away!  They are the kind of thing I dream about.  Which is what happened this week, so of course we had to go!

These tots are super crispy and layered with creamy queso, bacon pieces, and spicy giardiniera (which is what makes them so amazing!). YUM!

Saturday night we went to an event called the Zoo Brew.  For $25 you got to sample a TON of different beers and wines from local breweries and wineries.  Plus there were a TON of restaurants there giving out samples of their best food!  Aaaand it was at the zoo, which made it that much better!

I can't even tell you how much stuff we tried...it was a lot.  It's a good thing our local zoo is very hilly so we burned a lot of calories while walking around and around!

I wish it wasn't so dark so you could tell we were at the zoo!

Today we had to go to Kelly's company picnic.

I was pretty impressed!  They had a dunking booth, multiple bouncy houses, a cornhole tournament, a photobooth, a band, and a catered meal!
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of all that fun because no one else was taking pictures, and since I didn't really know anyone I didn't want to look like a loser! Haha

I do have our pics from the photo booth though!

The thing about photo booths though is that I am never ready when the picture is taken...too many props!  Ha

Have a great week!

Thirsty Thursday and Currently

Just for the record I am really excited about this post because I actually have fun stuff to talk about!  No Debbie Downers here!

Let's have a drink with  Trish @ Tales from Trish and Jenn @ Going to the Distance !

Strawberry Vodka Lemonade Sparkler

Pinned Image

2 oz. strawberry infused Svedka vodka | 2 oz. simple syrup | 2 oz. fresh lemon juice | Top with sparkling wine | Garnish with strawberries and mint

Now I have my drink...Let's talk.

Just a warning, I have a lot to talk about today!

Love in the Wild- Did anyone watch this on Tuesday night?  They just started the second season (I didn't even watch the first season), and I am loving it!  I normally don't watch shows like that, but I'm feeling a weekly trend!

McDonald's- I do not like McDonald's.  The service sucks (I have to go there for the Salon to get tea for the girls), and the food is so bad for you! I hadn't been there in foooooorever (not that I ate there a ton before, just a biscuit here and there after a long night or sometimes a fruit and yogurt parfait)!  Well last week my babysitting kiddos wanted to go there for lunch.  I protested and protested and finally gave in, and I was SO hungry.  So I ate six chicken nuggets.  I felt so bad about it afterwards...I ruined my streak!  Yesterday, I forgot to eat breakfast and so when I went to get the teas I got the new blueberry banana nut oatmeal.  It was SO good.  Rivals Panera's oatmeal even!  My only complaint is that some of the stems were still in the blueberries...yuck, but other than that it was good!

Proper Grammar- I cannot stand it when people do not use proper grammar...I drives me nut-so!  Yesterday when I went to Sonic to get drinks for the Salon (we are thirsty people) the car-hop was rolling around asking everyone if they were "Doin' good?".  It sounded so awful!  "Doing okay?", "Doing well?" Those would be fine.  "Doin' good?"... No thank you.  And the use of "was" instead of "were".  "We was drivin' down the road n' the truck n' all of a suddn' a possum run right out n' front a' us!" (This really did happen to me the other day, but I was in a car, not a truck) We are not from the hills people!  We are from Indiana, and the land is pretty flat!

Here is my currently for this month, thanks to Farley @ Oh' Boy Fourth Grade.

Listening- to The Today Show. Not as exciting today as it has been this week with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.  I love all things royal family, so I was loving that!

Loving- all of the support I am getting from my post yesterday.  You guys left me so many great suggestions and uplifting comments!  It really makes me feel a lot better about the whole situation.  I even ordered a book called What Color is Your Parachute?
thanks to the suggestion of Nicole Rene!  I can't wait until it comes in!

Thinking- I am thinking about re-designing my blog!  There are so many cute designs out there, and I am already feeling like I want to change!  I love my design now, but I want to spread the love!

Wanting- to go back to bed.  I am having trouble getting motivated today!

Needing- to clear off the kitchen table.  I am sitting on my bed typing this, and through the doorway, I can see the huge pile of mess that is sitting on the kitchen table.  The table is conveniently located right when you walk in the door and by the washing machine and dryer....so naturally it is usually covered in mail and clean laundry. :-/  I have done EVERYTHING to try to keep it cleared off.  I hung/hanged (?) some hooks near the table to hang my many bags on, I got a bill file/key hook thing to hang on the wall and put our junk in, I try to fold laundry as I do it...Stuff just always ends up on that table.  It's like a magnet!

Wish- wouldn't it be so awesome to go to the Olympics this summer? I LOVE London and think that would be an awesome experience!

Went- We haven't really gone anywhere this summer yet, although we have a lot of stuff coming up.  We went to the Newburgh Wine and Jazz Festival a couple weeks ago, and it was really fun!  Tickets were $15 and you got to go around to each winery and have as many samples as you want! It was a beautiful thing!

Want- I want to go to Disney World, and I AM going to Disney World!  Yippee!  I am starting to get excited for our trip at the end of July!

Ok.  I am finally done!

Have a great Thursday and enjoy your Happy Hour!

Wednesday Sad Face Post

It's Hump Day!  We are half way there people!  Let's link up with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh So Pinteresting Wednesday!

I am not going to lie, I am not loving a whole lot today.

As you probably figured, given my absence the past couple days, I did not secure a full-time position.  I found out on Monday night that I did not get the job, or any job.  :-/

I wouldn't have blogged about it if I didn't think that I had a very good chance!  So I was pretty disappointed, and now I feel like a loser. Haha

I met with my principal yesterday to talk about things I could improve on and what I can do better in my interview next time (I thought this was really nice of him because I don't think most principals would do this), and of course I started crying (UGH!).  He said that he thinks really highly of me and knows I do a great job, and he had told the other principals that, but they couldn't see that shine through.  He told me that he could tell that I was really nervous and that I wasn't acting like my normal self (which I totally agree with).  The principals gave everyone a score for all the questions, and then they added up the numbers foe a total score.  They hired the 13 highest scores.  I only scored average, run of the mill, normal, middle of the road, you get the picture, which he said he did not expect.  So I guess it's good that people expect a lot out of me at least!  And hey! This is the first time I have talked about it without crying!  (GO ME!)

I still have my job as an aide for next year (which I love), and the summer is not over so somethingmay come up!  I am staying positive and I am moving forward. :-)

Now for the fun stuff!

My Pinterest page is having issues loading so this may not even happen today!

20 minutes, a shower, and a hair-do later...

This fits my current state of mind.

I love my job! Even if it is only part-time!

How awesome is this staircase?!? I am so doing this if I ever have a staircase up to a playroom!

Pinned Image
I am loving this lamp!  This would be such an easy DIY.  I think I would do it with just a few colors though.

And as always I am loving my life with a cherry on top!

That's all for today.

Kind of boring, but my Pinterest finds have been few and far between lately!

Does that ever happen to you?

What are you loving on this Wednesday?

How Was Your Weekend?

How was everyone's weekend?

Mine was great!

Friday night I we grilled some yummy hamburgers, and we watched part of Lost Season 3.

I was perfectly content!

Saturday night we had an event at my church called Steak Night.  It's one of my favorite events of the summer!

You buy a meal ticket and they give you a steak.  You can either wait for the "grillers" to grill the steak they gave you to your liking, or you can find a tasty-looking one that is already done.  Then you go and get your sides to go with your steak.  And I almost forgot the best part, lots of beer!  I love being Catholic. :-)  I'm pretty sure there is no other religion where it's acceptable to drink beer in the church parking lot.

Here we are, waiting for our steaks!

Everyone kind of brings stuff to decorate their tables with.  Our theme was pink flamingoes!

Sunday I decided to skip the workout and spend the day by the pool.  Good choice!  It was a beautiful day with lots of sun and a nice breeze!

I even read more of the book I've been trying to get into.

I loved The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo!  So my plan is to read the whole series.  So far it's going slow.  I'm having trouble getting into it, and it's more of a chore.  But the first book was the same way, and it ended up being a great read.

Have you read it?  What do you think?

Happy Monday!

Happy Hour and This is My Confession

Ok you know when you read that post title you sang the Usher song.

I know I did.

And I still am.

These are my confessions
Just when I thought I said all I could say
My chick on the side said she got one on the way.....

I think I will love that song forever.  And ever.

Happy Thirsty Thursday!

Let's have a drink with  Trish @ Tales from Trish and Jenn @ Going to the Distance !

I cna't wait to try my drink for today!

Summer Punch

Pinned Image

-2 bottles of Moscato
-1 can of pink lemonade concentrate
-3 cups of Sprite
-Fresh raspberries

This sounds so refreshing for a summer evening!

Now let's talk.  About obsessions.

Bonnie at Living a Wonderfull Life is having a linky party to confess all of your obessions.  I have a few current obsessions.

1.  Forever 21-
I have always loved this store, but one just opened up in our mall this past month and OMG.  I spent $112 there last week.  I got a bunch of cute stuff!  I can foresee this being really bad though because now I feel like I have to go in there everytime I go to the mall!  I was babysitting the other day, and we had some extra time and were near the mall, so we went inside to play on the little playground there.  This playground just so happens to be right next to Forever 21.  It was so hard not to go in!  I just kept staring inside trying to get a glimpse of the clothes!

2.  My Cool Cup-
I don't know where this thing came from, but it has not left my side since I got it.  One of my students got it for me for the last day of school.  I'm sure you have seen them before.  It's like a Tervis Tumbler only it has this gel stuff in side so you can freeze it, and it has a lid with a straw and grippies on the side.  Nothing new, but I love it.  (Still love my Tervis' though.  I don't want to hurt their feelings.)

3.  LOST-
I watched this show when it first came on, and I kept up with it for a good 4 or 5 seasons.  Then I just got, well, lost.  It got so weird and confusing and hard to keep up with.  So I quit watching it.  (It didn't help that I left for college and no longer had a DVR. Ahh the dorm life.)  But the boy and I have started watching the seasons from the very first episode.  I can't wait to watch every night!  It's what keeps me going through the day!  We are getting ready to start season 3, and it is not toooooo weird yet, but I think watching them all at once helps me put it all together.

Random side note:  Did you hear about the zombie-like man that they found in Florida?  I am not one to believe these stories (and I don't really think he is a zombie), but I have seen it in multiple places now!  SICK!

I'll leave you with this picture so you can get that image out of your head.

Who doesn't love puppies and bunnies?

Happy Thursday!

Have a great day!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday (almost Thursday)!  It's time for my fav link up with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh So Pinteresting Wednesday!

I am loving Pinterest (as always) but wouldn't it be nice if you could block some of the things you pin so other people can't see them?  I always feel bad that I clog up everyone's feed with my countless teaching pins...if you're not a teacher, you probably don't care!  So sorry for that to all of my followers.

Here is what I am loving on Pinterest this week:

Pinned Image
I think I will, thanks!

Love my job!

I had to repin this because I have been taking this Group Core class at my gym and we use our towels to do some of the exercises.  The instructor always says, "Towels aren't just to wipe your brow people!"

Pinned Image
My mom always ALWAYS let us lick the beaters.  Even at the age of 24, if she is using the mixer, I get a beater.  Ha.  And of course she always turns it off first.

.
Good thought.  I need to remember this when I feel like skipping my workout!

Pinned Image
I love a good messy bun!

Why is it that you cna always make the perfect messy bun right before you go to bed?! I hate that.

Pinned Image
Love this organization idea!  These baskets, which I already have a couple of, are bracketted (is that a word?) to the wall.  Then you can put the little randoms in there, like swimsuits, leggings, scarves...I never know what to do with any of those things!

That's all for today!

Kind of a boring post, but I will try better next week!

What are you loving on this Wednesday?

Back to Business

Hey there!

Remember me?

I know it's been a while...since last Thursday I think.

I almost forgot about this thing I think!

How was everyone's Memorial Day weekend?

Mine was a busy weekend with babysitting my favorite kiddos, going to the pool, and barbeque-ing (is that a word?).  I was also getting ready for my interview, which was today (more on that in a minute)!

It was such a nice weekend here in Indiana, but it was so HOT!  There was no better way to spend it than poolside!  I took my kiddos to the pool on Friday (I have a feeling I will be there a lot this summer...those kids are like fish!) and spent part of the day at the pool on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  I had to be careful though...I didn't want to be too crispy for my interview!

Then we went to a BBQ for lunch on Sunday at our friends' house.

And a lovely steak dinner at my parents' house on Sunday night!

Lots of eating!

The cat also had fun laying on top of my car.  :-)  My clean car by the way.

I also spent Saturday afternoon and Monday night researching the most common questions asked in teaching interviews, and coming up with my answers to them (yes I know I'm a dork).  I was trying to be as prepared as possible!

I had 21 questions that are commonly asked in interviews for teachers.  I had well thought out answers for 20 of them.  It was late and the only question I had left was "In what ways do you encourage creativity in the classroom?"

"Oh well" I thought.  I can wing that one if they ask me, which I really didn't think they would because I had never been asked that in an interview before.

So I go to my interview today, and they do the interview in 3 groups of 3 principals.  The first two groups went really well.  I answered all of my rehearsed questions spot on (they literally asked the exact questions that I had researched, word for word), and they said I did a really good job!  Yay!  Then I went to the third group, which was the principal at my current school (keep in mind there is a second grade opening there that I would really like to have), our new assistant principal, and another principal who I also knew.

I got a little more nervous (which I didn't think would happen since I knew them).

I'll give you one guess on the very first question my principal asked me.  "In what ways do you encourage creativity in the classroom?"  BOMB.  My mind went blank!  I made up some crazy answer on the fly, but I am not feeling that great about that.

The next question he asked me was "What do you think makes a good principal?"  Not fair!  I had my answer all figured out to this question just like the others, but he is my principal!  That also threw me for a loop.

I got flustered.

I still feel like it was a thumbs up overall though!  I know they take into consideration that everyone is nervous for those things.

Anyways...I find out on Monday where they want to put me or if they want to put me anywhere!

Wish me luck!

Thirsty Thursday

Happy Thursday!  It's the first full day of summer for me!  I better enjoy it because next week it will be back to work work work for some extra money.  Let's have a drink with  Trish @ Tales from Trish and Jenn @ Going to the Distance !

I had the hardest time finding a drink for today!  I finally came up with this.

Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.

I guess I'm the DD. Haha

Frozen Strawberry Lemonade

Ingredients
  • 2 cups frozen (or fresh) strawberries (about 24 strawberries)
  • 1/2 cup crushed ice (or smallest cubes possible)
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 3 packets of sugar substitute or 2 Tablespoons of sugar (or to taste)
  • 3/4 cup water (or I guess you could substitute vodka or white rum).

Hmmm now what to talk about?
I spent my first day of summer by the pool today.  It was so nice outside (it still is)!  I have to get my pool time in now before the heat wave this weekend!  It is supposed to get up to 98!

As I was sitting here, eating a fun size peanut butter cup and writing this post, I got a call for an interview on Tuesday!

*****Happy Dance*****

I think I'm ready....I just bought a new interview outfit yesterday from The Limited.  They have the cutest stuff right now!  I probably tried on 10 different skirt/top combos!

Here is what I ended up with:

This skirt...which is cuter in person.

With this top....

And this cardigan!

With a red, beaded necklace...I think it's a winner!

Now I just have to print off a couple more things for my portfolio, and review some interview questions (Does anyone else do this?  I feel like you have to be prepared with your answers!) and I'm ready to go!  BRING IT!

Wish me luck!  (Once again)

This will all be over soon.  (Hopefully)

What I'm Loving Wednesday- Summer Break Style!

Well it is officially SUMMER!

I still have to go to a meeting this morning, but we are getting a catered breakfast (I don't know how I have actually lost weight while working at this school), and call me crazy, but I actually kind of like meetings (INSANE I know!).  Then I'm going out to lunch with the girls, where I'm sure margaritas will be had....and summer will begin!

I'm linking up with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh So Pinteresting Wednesday!  Both of which are very deserving of a BIG Congratulations (I forgot to do it last week)!  Crazy how they both announced that they were preggers in the same week!

Anyways...Here is what I am loving this week:

Obviously I am loving that school is out.  Enough said.  Where's the pool?

I am loving that in about 2 short months, I will be here.

And for one good day of tanning I will be here:
at Daytona Beach

And in a little over a month I will be here:
at little ol' Patoka Lake

And hopefully here:
Home of the Braves!

And in one month, I will be here:
Oh hey Dave!  Yes I think I will stay for while!

And...

Remember this guy?

a very *sweet* idea!
I finally made him!

And I have to say I think mine looks better (even with my iPhone pic).
Toot toot!  That was my own horn.
What do you think?

I am also loving my Pinterest finds!

So true!
Since I am left-handed, by the time I was in college, I was writing in my desk completely sideways!
If you are left-handed, you can understand this.

Diet Coke is my weakness.
My fellow Diet Coke drinkers can vouch for me when I say that Diet Pepsi is NOT the same.

My sweet tooth must me calling to me today!

And finally, I am loving that the job postings ended today, so they (the gods of education) should be calling for interviews today, tomorrow, friday, monday, who knows really.  Hopefully before August though.

Oh and as always, I am loving my life with a cherry on top!

Happy Hump Day!

I'm about to go eat my weight in hashbrowns.  Wish me luck.
