Job Woes

If you read my blog, you already know about my job woes, but if you need a refresher, you can go here or here or here or here.  There are lots of them.  It's that time of year again.  The time when I go hunting for a more permanent position.  Ugh.  It's like riding a rollercoaster.  I feed off of every little rumor that I hear about retirements or transfers or added sections or any kind of positions that will be opening up.  Really going back and reading those posts just brought back all of the horrible feelings of last summer.

Fortunately for me, this year I have the opportunity to make my temporary position as an Art teacher permanent.  So it's not as stressful as last year or the year before that, but it still makes my chest splotchy.  I learned that my job was posted a week ago Friday, I promptly applied and now I wait.

The posting ended on Sunday, so hopefully I will be interviewing for it this week.  I wasn't really worried about it until my principal came into my room and told me that there were 17 other applicants, all of which had their Visual Arts license.  So now I have a splotchy chest again.
As always, I'll keep you updated.

Sunday Social

I need to be writing lesson plans but instead....I'm linking up with Ashley and Neely for Sunday Social!  Then I'll do lesson plans later.  Promise.

1. Did you sleepwalk as a child?

I have been known to talk in my sleep, but I was never a sleepwalker.

2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house?

I never snuck out of my house, but my friend and I used to sneak out of her house a lot.  We would climb out her bedroom window (I would always get stuck....Being stealth is not my thing) and sit in her front yard.  Our guy friends would ride their bikes over and we would all just sit in the grass and hang out.  So rebellious.

3. Did you have any imaginary friends?

Nope!

4. Did you ever go toilet papering?

Nope!  I was the lookout once when my friends were doing it, but I never actually did it.

5. Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren't allowed to watch?

My grandpa used to babysit us during the summer when my mom had to work, and we would sneak into my parents' bedroom and watch Jerry Springer...Then we got caught.  And we never did that again.

Better Late Than Never

I am a little late posting this but better late than never!  I went to bed too late on Sunday (we may or may not have been watching The Karate Kid until 11:00...), hence the reason why I couldn't get up early enough to post this yesterday morning.     Let's see how I did on my goals with Jessica @ Fantastically Average and Jenn @ Party of One!...I feel like not very well. Ha

FantasticallyAverage

Here are my goals from last week:

1.  Keep track of my calories every day. I did pretty well at this, but I didn't make it EVERY day.

2.  Finish this shelf and get it hung up!

Like I said last week, I just have to get the stripes put on, but I keep thinking there is way I can do it without measuring that I haven't figured out yet.  I think I am wrong about that, and I just need to do it!

3.  Blog five times.  Nope nope nope.  I am lacking inspiration lately.

4.  Start painting my craft room. Didn't even set foot in there this weekend!

5.  Clean our old apartment and turn in keys.  I started, but I am not done yet.  Kelly hurt his back so I have been working solo on this.

0/5.  I haven't had a week that bad in a long time!

I did get some things done this weekend, they just weren't on my list!

I painted faces for the Spring Carnival at my old school on Friday.  I didn't know I was going to be outside...well I knew, but I thought that would be changed because it was freeeeeeezing.  My hands were so numb by the end that I could barely paint!

Cherry topped things...how appropriate!

I made the Quinoa with Corn and Scallions that Jessica posted about last week.  I had all of the ingredients so all I had to do was whip it up!  And it was pretty tasty!  A very teacher friendly lunch since it can be eaten cold, and it's packed with protein to keep me going through the rest of the day!

My mom came over Sunday and we did some gardening.   This flower bed was full of tree saplings.  We trimmed them down and planted some tiger lilies instead.

(please excuse my finger)

This was just a patch of dirt along the sidewalk in our back yard.  No grass grows there because it gets washed out a lot when it rains.  We planted some black-eyed-susans there to cover it up!

So see, I did get some stuff done, just nothing on my list!

What I'm Loving Wednesday and Oh How Pinteresting!

Happy Hump Day!  Time to link up with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday!

Here is what I am loving this week:

I am loving that my first art show was a total success!  I was a little worried because the gym was so hot that the artwork was having trouble staying on the walls, but once the show started everything stayed!  The kids had fun and the parents were impressed!

A local eye doctor actually asked if he could have some of the art work for his office!  (They were pencil drawings of eyes)

I am loving my new running shoes that I got for my birthday from my mom!

They even glow in the dark!

I am loving Pinterest!

 Actually, I lied.

I am not loving Pinterest because I cannot embed my pins!

I have tried and tried and its just not working for me! Errrrrrrr.

Maybe next week!

Happy Wednesday!

Birthday Fun!

Last Thursday was my 25th birthday!  People were asking me if I was starting to feel old, or if I was having trouble with turning 25.  "Heck no!" I said.  Even Kelly has been harassing me (he is also 25).  The truth is I had a great 25th year of life!  I got a job, we have a house, I have great friends and an even greater family (now if I could only have that ring on my finger)!   No problems here!

We spent the weekend (and then some) celebrating!

Wednesday night my Salon bosses took me out for margaritas (Thanks Jenny, Julie, and Laurie!) at a local Mexican restaurant.  We were feeling good!  They told them it was my birthday, so I had to put on this gem.

But I got fried ice cream with it!  Laurie spent the remainder of her evening editing this photo. Ha!

Thursday the festivities continued at school.  I have to say that being a teacher is probably the best job to have on your birthday!  The kids are so funny!

Notice the mis-spelling of the last name.  Oops!

When I got to the Salon that night there was a cake waiting for me!

That night we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for our traditional Thursday dinner.  I made the mistake of telling the our waitress (we have the same one every week) that it was my birthday.  I didn't realize they did birthdays at that place!

They made me where this crown, and they announced my birthday to the whole restaurant.  That wasn't embarrassing at all...BUT I got a free sauce, so it was worth it I suppose.

Friday we were out of school, so I went to lunch with my mom and dad at a local sushi restaurant, and I got my hair done.

Ombre and bangs! #carselfie

Then Kelly and I went to Bar Louie for dinner.  YUM!

Saturday Kelly's mom came down and treated us to lunch and a little shopping!

I picked out this wall art from Pier 1 for my birthday present!

It matches some wall décor that I got from Hobby Lobby.

After lunch and shopping, we went to parents for my birthday dinner (no wonder I weigh more this week!).  My grandma and great aunt came and we grilled out and drank wine.  My mom made a delicious strawberry coconut cake a la Pinterest (the cake itself, not the icing decorations ha)!

Birthdays definitely get better as you get older!

Yesterday was back to real life, raking leaves and eating leftovers!

5 for Five

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I spent my weekend doing lots of "birthday" things, and I think I weigh about 10 lbs. more than before my birthday.  I'm afraid to check.   Let's see how I did on my goals with Jessica @ Fantastically Average and Jenn @ Party of One!

FantasticallyAverage

I am happy to report that 20 bags of yard debris and a two tight backs later, we finally got all of the leaves out of the yard, and Kelly was able to mow the grass!  It looks so much better, and it is actually starting to look like someone lives here.

Here are my goals from last week:

1.  Go to the store.  I had to go at 9:00 at night, but I finally went!  It's so nice to have some healthier choices to eat!

2.  Hang décor and/or craft/redo décor.  I found some cute stuff for the kitchen at Hobby Lobby, which I got hung up last night.  (Please ignore the picture-less frames.)

I am STILL spray painting the patio furniture.  I ran out of spray paint again!  I have used 4 cans so far!

3.  Do taxes.  It took three hours and a phone call to Turbo Tax.  It kept defaulting me to the Premier Edition of Turbo Tax, when I wanted to use the free!  It was going to charge me $114 to do my taxes!  Uhhh I don't think so.  Not when it can be free!  So I had to call, and the guy said if I pay for it, and he can call me back and set up a refund.  Thank you!  Oh and p.s. I am getting $1,869 back!

4.  No sweets until Thursday.  I think I made it through one day.

5.  Prepare for art show next week.  I am no where near ready for the art show on Tuesday, but I did get some work mounted last week!

4 out 5 is pretty good!

Here are my goals for this week:

1.  Keep track of my calories every day.  I used to be really good at this.  Not so much anymore.

2.  Finish this shelf and get it hung up!

I have the base coat finished, I just have to get the stripes put on!

3.  Blog five times.  I have been slacking lately.   Partly due to of a lack of inspiration, partly due to  being busy, and partly due to laziness.

4.  Start painting my craft room.  I have the paint, I just have to get started.  Even if its just taping the room.  Baby steps is what this is all about right?

5.  Clean our old apartment and turn in keys.  I want to be completely done with that thing by the end of the week.

Here we go!  Have a great week!

WILW and OHP...kind of

It's Wednesday!  That means  there is only one more day of school left this week (after today)!  It also means that I am linking up with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday!

I am loving the warm weather!  I was actually HOT yesterday.  And I ate lunch OUTSIDE.

I am loving that my birthday is tomorrow!  Yay for presents and eating things that I don't normally eat because it's my birthday!

I am loving that our house is coming together!  I am almost ready to take pictures...almost.

I am loving that I finally got to go to the grocery store!  No more eating junk!

Aaaaaand I don't have any pins today because Pinterest is being a big B, and they changed the way they embed pins.  I previously posted a call for help because I didn't know how to do it.  That is now delted because Michelle did a how to post today.  Thank you Michelle!!!

Now I just have to take the time to figure it out!

Happy Wednesday!

5 for Five

What a beautiful weekend!  I actually wore a tank top when I was working out in the yard! Let's see how I did on my goals with Jessica @ Fantastically Average and Jenn @ Party of One!
FantasticallyAverage

I should have made raking leaves one of my goals because I feel like that is ALL I did all weekend.  Since this house was vacant for so long, the leaves were out of control.  I swear all of the neighbors dumped their leaves into our yard.  They were up to my hips at one point!

1.  Stick to eating less sweets.  Ehhhhh I can't really say that I stuck to this, but I started out strong at the beginning of the week.

2.  Spray paint the patio furniture black.  I did as much as I could.  I bought two cans of spray paint, but I still ran out!

3.  Be in bed by 10:00 4 out of 5 nights.  Check!  I may not have been asleep, but  I was at least in bed!

4.  Get some stuff hung on these empty walls.  I didn't actually get stuff hung up, but I made some progress in getting some décor painted.  Counting it!

5.  Plan meals for next week.  Still haven't gone to the store!!!!  Although I did make a list!

4.5 out of 5!  Not too shabby!

Here are my goals for next week:

1.  Go to the store.  We have got to get some food in this place!

2.  Hang décor and/or craft/redo décor.  As long as I am working on it!

3.  Do taxes.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

4.  No sweets until Thursday.  Thursday is my birthday, so of course there will be cake!

5.  Prepare for art show next week.  The school art show is sneaking up on me, and I have got to start mounting some work!

Wish me luck!
