Pinsday Wednesday

Burrrrrr!  Have you been outside?  Well me neither.  I am snuggled up on the couch with my favorite blanket drinking my steaming cup of coffee.  Dreading that moment when I have to take the blanket off and go get ready for school.

It's -1 with wind chill.

I can't take it.

Did I mention that our two hour delay yesterday turned into no school?...Again.

Did I mention how ready I am for Spring?

How many days?  Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

It's Wednesday, so I am sharing my favorite pins of the week!

Like what you see?  Find it here.

Happy Wednesday!

I need a tan.

Take me to March!  Let's just hit the fast forward button and get to Spring already.  Yesterday it was 51 degrees and sunny.  I ate lunch outside!  Today...more snow.

I need the beach.

On a positive note, we booked our flight for Spring Break!  We decided to go to the Clearwater, Redington, Madeira, St. Pete area of Florida.  We are flying into Tampa, and guess how much our  flight cost to get there?

$60!!!

And only $85 on the way back!

I didn't even have to take money out of my savings account to pay for that!

Because of the prices, I decided to forego the idea of going somewhere exotic that I had never been before....Punta Cana for 4 days? Or Florida for 7?

I'll take 7 days of beach please.  And 7 days of beach cocktails.

Now we just have to find a place to stay, which shouldn't be hard because there are a ton of them!

60 more days!

And this just in...2 hour delay.

It's back to bed for this girl!

Sunday Social

The boy is watching sports documentaries, which I don't totally hate, but I am feeling a little bored, so I thought I would do a post on a Sunday.  A Sunday Social post to be exact.  I know, you're in shock.  I don't blog on the weekends, but here I am.

1. Top 3 favorite kinds of food
Spicy food, ice cream, Mexican

2. First 3 things you do in the morning
Hit snooze, make/drink my coffee, blog

3. Last 3 things you do at night
brush my teeth, turn on my electric blanket, plug-in my phone

4. 3 TV shows you NEVER miss
I miss all shows because I don't watch shows as they are on, so I will go with the last three series I have watched on Netflix.

Breaking Bad
The Carrie Diaries
Parenthood

5. 3 places you want to visit
New Zealand
Napa
Somewhere tropical

6. 3 people you can always count on
My parents, my siblings, Kelly

You see what I did there?  I actually named 5 people.

Have a good week!

5 on Friday

I made it through (well...as of this afternoon) our first full week of school since....?  I don't even remember the last time I worked a full week.  I'm thinking it was before Thanksgiving.  Needless to say the kids have been a little wound up and are in need of some routine in their life.  The teachers too for that matter.

And it's snowing right now.  Not going to lie, I could go for a delay, BUT no cancellations please!

1.  Chia Seeds

Have you heard of these things?  I have been putting them in and around everything that goes into my mouth.  Yogurt, Cream of Wheat, quinoa, smoothies.  They crunch like strawberry seeds, unless they get wet, then they are more like tapioca, but they have absolutely no taste.

The list of good things about these seeds goes on and on!

2.  It's Friday

That means it's wine day.  I have been trying to give up my nightly glass(es) of wine in hopes of losing a little weight after the holiday season, but I am allowed to have wine on Fridays and Saturdays.  Praise the Lord because I am really missing it!

3.  Losing Weight

I typically eat pretty healthy and exercise on a day to day basis, but my portion control was out of control.  I have been reeling my portions back in (and drinking less as stated above), and I have already lost two pounds!

4.  Vacation

We are getting closer and closer to finalizing our spring break plans.  It's looking like we are going to Florida still, so no where exotic like I had hoped, but we are working on some cheap-o flights, and it's going to much more reasonable (and longer) than going on a cruise or to the Caribbean like I wanted.  Just get me to the beach so I can make it through the rest of the year.  That's all I ask.

5.  Apple TV

I am probably going to lose another weekend due to this thing.  Although we have almost watched all the shows that I am interested in.  We are just about caught up on Parenthood, and then I can be done watching shows for a while.  Maybe then I can finish the book I have been reading since Thanksgiving!

Have a great weekend!

Favorite Pin Thursday

Today I'm sharing what I have been pinning on Pinterest lately.  I wanted to do this yesterday, but when alarm clocks or tired girls malfunction, things become a lot slightly rushed in the morning.  So now instead of "Pinsday" we have "Pin-Thursday".  The words pin and Thursday just don't go together as nicely....But here we are!

You can find all of my pins here!

Love this colorful sweater!

And this comfy baseball "tee" sweater!

Excuse the creepy picture of the man above this lovely coffee cup arrangement which I am also in love with.

Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Sweet Chili Sauce.

If I was going to change my bedding at this moment...

This would be a perfect Spring Break dress is I could figure out where we are going!

Margarita Bars

Paradise Fried Rice with Pineapple

Cheesy Broccoli Quinoa Casserole

Happy Thursday!

Vacation Planning- this is not a how-to

Don't be looking to this post for good advice.  I am the one needing advice here.  Vacation planning.  Something I have never really had to do by myself.  Finding flights, finding a hotel, not having to give them your first born child.  It's very stressful to me.

I spent the majority of my day yesterday researching places to go for Spring Break, and I just can't find anything that I am in love with that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  I'm not trying to spend a ton of money...money that could be used for other important life events that may or may not be happening sometime in the near future.

I want to go somewhere different.  Somewhere that we have never been.

At first I wanted to go to San Francisco for a few days, but then I decided that San Francisco in March would probably not have ideal Spring Break weather, which I decided is something that I want.  And it's pretty far away from little Indiana.

Then we talked about going on a cruise.  I'm not going to lie, going on a cruise was never something that sounded appealing to me.  Buffets, stage shows, small rooms, it just doesn't sound like my thing, not to mention the diseases you always hear about people getting on the news.  Yuck.  But I decided to look into it because it could take us somewhere sunny and warm that we have never been.  And there are cocktails.  That is an important factor.

Then I started researching travel deals on Groupon to Cancun and the Dominican Republic.  They were great deals for all-inclusive resorts, but it was going to be about $1,000 for each of us, and you had to fly out of certain areas, meaning we would have to pay for additional airfare to get to those airports.

So now I am stuck and taking suggestions because I can't find anything that I am in love with.  Where do you like to go for a warm-weather vacation?  Help!

Happies and Crappies

Happy Friday!  I am so ready for the weekend, and I am also glad that next week will be a regular week (hopefully).  Today I am linking up for Happies and Crappies with Amber @ Brunch with Amber and Stephanie @ The Vintage Modern Wife!

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

My Happies:

It's almost the weekend.  Nothing could make me happier than that.  I am already looking forward to my Saturday afternoon nap!

I am all caught up on my lesson plans!  This is something that hasn't happened in a while, and it feels good knowing that I don't have to write any for a couple of weeks.

Thanks to the snow days this week, I got so much done around the house.  I even painted my craft room, which hopefully will have a table in it after this weekend (If I can get Kelly to put it together).  I am ready to organize that thing and get my craft on!

We got Apple TV for Christmas, and I am in love with it!  It is so nice to watch whatever we want when we want.  No more waiting for Netflix to come in the snail mail!

My Crappies:

I have gotten back to eating healthy and cutting my portions back this week, as well as working out like I usually do, and I have only dropped .4 lbs. so far.  So frustrating!  Especially when I feel like I am hungry all the time.  And the worst part...I have decided to cut back on my wine intake until I lose some holiday weight.  I haven't had anything to drink since last weekend.  Patience.  I will not give up!
Yup :)
We finished Breaking Bad this week, and I am so sad that it is over!  I want more!  We definitely need a show to replace the emptiness that I am feeling.  I am open to suggestions.

I am SO ready for spring and it's only January.  We still have a long way to go before it warms up.  I am tired of being cold!

More Happies than Crappies this week!  Yay for that!

Happy weekend!

Excuse me while I brush my shoulders off.

It turns out, even after all of these snow days, I still haven't lost my touch.

You know the kid that just kind of get on your nerves at school?  Loud.  Sometimes rude.  You try to be nice.  They think they're funny.  Sometimes you can't help but laugh.  Yeah, you know that kid.  There is one in every class.

Sometimes I have to get onto those kids, but sometimes I have a soft spot for this kind of student.  They can't catch a break because they are about to drive their regular classroom teacher insane.  Don't get me wrong, they drive me insane too,  but I only have to deal with it for 35 minutes.

One of these students won a little writing contest that happened within our school.  Select students were asked to write about their favorite teacher, and the winning essay would be hung in the cafeteria.

Guess who she wrote about?

Little old me!

In case you can't read that, here is what it says (keep in mind the student is in the third grade, so please ignore the errors):

"Hi!  My name is _______.  I am the school news reporter.  I am writing about {my} favorite teacher and the teacher I chose is Miss Fuchs, the art teacher.
The reason I chose her is because she does all kinds of cool stuff (so it's no wonder I chose her I mean come on!)  I like making the really cool paper right now.  Another reason I picked Miss Fuchs is because she is really nice.  She always says thanks or you're welcome and stuff like that.  I know that stuff just sounds like good manners but it's not, its Miss Fuchs.  She is the best art teacher in the generation.  THE END"

Brush. Brush.

Smart kiddo!  My soft spot just got a little softer.

I love my job!

Wait...I actually have to go to work?

There was another snow day yesterday...or a cold day.  We weren't out due to snow.  We were out due to that fact that it felt like it was -20 degrees.  I'm glad I didn't have to weather the frigid temperatures, but I am SO glad to go back to work.

I have only had to work 13 of the last 36 days, partly due to Christmas break and pre-planned personal days, but 5 of those days were snow days!

I have gotten so much done around here.. I painted my craft room, made three meals, cleaned the living room, did my laundry, put the Christmas decorations away, and organized my closet.  My scarves are thanking me!

It's not the most Pinteresting of organization techniques, but I was going for more of a cheap and functional look.

Luckily we don't have to make up the last two days because some big-wig said so.  And for that I am thankful!

Hopefully I can remember how to be a teacher today!

Holiday re-cap on yet another snow day

Another snow day today!  The wind chill out there is -22 degrees so this teacher is very thankful that she doesn't have to go out!  Except for people are starting to make fun of me for never having to work, and I am starting to feel like a bad teacher for never getting anything accomplished.

But what a perfect time for a less-words version of my holiday re-cap!

Kelly and I at his family Christmas.

Dinner with my favorite kiddos on Christmas Eve!

Bloody Marys on Christmas morning!

Drinking punch out of a leftover pineapple...

Our Christmas spread.  We always have appetizers instead of an actual meal, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hangover breakfast on New Year's Day!

Family dinner at Bar Louie!  This is what happens when you have the same taste as your sister.  We dress the same on accident!

Needless to say, I am so tired of eating and so tired of drinking, but I wish the fun didn't have to end!
