My Most Embarassing Moment

Day 10: Most embarrassing moment.  Spill.

So I was 19.  I was in attendance at a beautiful wedding.  The wedding of one of the girls I work with at the salon.

See me?  I am sporting brown hair second from the left.

Ugh I am cringing just at the thought of this.

The reception of this wedding was at the local country club.

I was drinking wine.

They kept refilling and refilling my glass.

It was a never-ending glass of wine.

Did I mention I was 19?

I was having the time of my life when I began to feel a little puke-ish.

Never a good feeling.

I choked it back.

Then I couldn't choke it back any longer.

I walked full speed (so as not to create a scene) to the bathroom.

Where I promptly threw up my dinner.  And the 4 pieces of cake I ate.

On the carpeted floor.

And the wall.

And that's all I remember.

The wedding planner took care of me from then on...or so I hear.

I am 95% sure that the bathroom floor is not carpeted anymore.

Did I mention I was 19?

 MORTIFIED.

Oops...missed a day.

Yesterday was busy, and I missed my fav link-up and Day 8 of the Blog Every Day in May challenge.  Please forgive me.

Day 8:  A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

Everything happens for a reason.

Nothing proved this to me more than when I had to change schools this semester.

Although this art teaching position was a better job, I had to leave the school that I had fell in love with.  My friends.  My students.  I was happy, but deep down I was devastated.

Now that I am at my new school, I realize why God chose that path for me.

1.  I absolutely love it.

2.  The principal of my old school is switching schools next year, and if I wouldn't have left, I would be starting all over, trying to get hired by a principal that doesn't know me.

I realize now that the school I am at now is MY school, and it is where I belong.

Day 9:  A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)

This was yesterday.  I needed an easy and fast project that my first graders could do before the end of the school year.  (There are only about 3-4 art classes left for each class.)

This is what I came up with:

"Yay for summer" hats.

The teacher before left a TON of pre-cut strips of construction paper.  I thought this would be a fun way to use it!

See ya tomorrow for Day 10!

Blog Every Day in May: Day 7

What are you most afraid of?

I could go more serious with this one like, I'm afraid that people will think I am a bad teacher, I am afraid that my life is going so well that something bad will happen, I am afraid that I will be stuck without a job again this year, I am afraid that people will talk about me behind my back, I am afraid of not being good enough, etc.

But who really wants to think about all that depressing stuff?

I know I don't!

So I am going to go with small things that crawl.  Yep that's what I am afraid of.

This morning I woke up from a dream where a student found a turtle in my room.  I was terrified.

Then I got out of bed only to find a giant cricket jumping through my living room.  You know something is abnormally large when you can see it jumping in the pitch black dark.

It is not really so much seeing stuff like this, it is more when it disappears that freaks me out.

We found a jumping spider near or bed about a month ago.  It was on the bed skirt.  How in the world is one supposed to kill something that is on the bed skirt?!  Especially when it jumps! So of course I tried to hit it with a shoe, and then it was gone.  Not on the shoe, or the bed skirt, or under the bed, or anywhere in our room.  Naturally it was right before we went to bed, so we had to sleep with a mysterious spider lurking in our room the whole night.  I was sure I was going to wake up with it in my mouth.

Just so you know, I found it a few days later in the bathroom.  And it was a cricket.  We must have a cricket problem here.

So really it doesn't matter what kind of gross critter it is.  Bug, mouse, snake, rabbit....turtle.  Keep it away from me.

5 for Five and Day 6

I took a couple of weeks off, but it's time that I get back into the swing of things with Jessica @ Fantastically Average and Jenn @ Party of One!

FantasticallyAverage

Here are my goals from a couple of  weeks ago:

1.  Keep track of my calories every day.  Only did this a couple of days, but I have ben recording my weight each day.

2.  Finish this shelf and get it hung up!

It is still sitting in this exact spot!

3.  Blog five times.  I have been doing a great job of blogging lately!

4.  Start painting my craft room.  I haven't even set foot  in there in about a month.

5.  Clean our old apartment and turn in keys.  As of last Tuesday we are done with that place!

Here are my goals for this week:

1.  Finish at least one craft project.  I was doing really well at keeping up with everything, but then it turned nice outside, so we have been working in the yard.  I need to get this place put together because we are having Father's Day here!

2.  Unpack at least 5  boxes. We still have some boxes that have not been unpacked yet because they don't have anything in them that we need on a day to day basis!

3.  Put clothes away.  Lots of clean laundry to fold.

4.  Prepare for my interview on the 15th.  I want to be fully prepared!

5.  Try a new recipe.  I have lots of new ones to try!

Now for Day 6 of the Blog Every Day in May challenge.

If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?

I am an inspiration (hopefully) for students.  My goal every day is to put that creative spark in their little minds.

I am a summer fanatic.  There is only one place this girl belongs in the summer, and that is by the pool.

I am a coffee addict.  Every morning.  I can't go without it.

See ya tomorrow for Day 7!

Stalk Much?

Blog Every Day in May: Day 5:

Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member.

Nathana @ Zach and Nathana

Nathana was my real-life friend before she was my bloggy friend.  We worked together at my old school, and we still go to lunch every other week!  It's always good to gossip together.  I think I could talk to her all day!

Playing Catch Up

Blog Every Day in May: Day 2: Educate us on something you know a lot about or are good at.

Took me a while to think of something, but I finally came up with laying out in the cold.  Yep, that's where I excel in life.

My mom and I have mastered it over the years.  After many, many chilly Spring Break trips (especially this past one where it was once 48 degrees) in the panhandle of Florida, I think we got it down.

Step 1:
Wear a sweatshirt and pants over your swim suit.  Come prepared with 2-3 towels.

Step2:
Leave sweatshirt and pants on and put towel down on chair.  This creates a barrier between you and the cold chair.

Step 3:
Concentrate really hard on the warmth of the sun.  Once you think you feel really warm, quickly shed your sweatshirt.

Step 4:
Once warm again, shed the pants.  Quickly put on tanning oil.  Oil attracts the sun so it will draw warmth to your body.

 Step 5:
Wrap towel around feet.  If your feet are warm, you will be warm-er.

Step 6:
Lay as flat and stiff as possible, so as not to feel the wind.  Continue to concentrate on how warm the sun feels.  I think I can.  I think I can.

Step 7:
Have a drink.  You are, after all, on vacation!

Day 3: Things that make me uncomfortable.

Awkward turtle anyone?

1.  When I witness other people getting in trouble.

This makes me feel so awkward and uncomfortable!  Almost as if I was in trouble myself!

2.  When people stand too close to me.

For example, I was at the dollar store the other day, and there was a man closely standing in line behind me.  I kept trying to scoot up, but every time I moved, he moved!  Back off dude!

3.  Others people smells.

Unless it is a perfume smell, I don't want it in my nose.  Body odor, greasy food smells (or any food smells really), stinky feet, sweaty kids just inside from recess.  It's all yuck.

4.  People who talk loud in restaurants.

No one else wants to hear your conversations, and it's distracting.  SHHH!

5.  When things go awry in movies or t.v. shows.

Like Steve Urkel style.  It's like nails on a chalkboard!

Now I'm all caught up!  Tomorrow is Day 4: Favorite Quote.

I guess I'm blogging every day in May!

That seems like a lot, but I feel like switching it up a bit.  This month I will be linking up with Story of My Life for the Blog Every Day in May challenge.  I was too tired last night to finish writing this, so I'm doing Day I and Day 2 today.

Yesterday's topic was to share your life story in 250 words or less.

Here we go!

I was born and raised a Catholic girl in Southern Indiana.  I was actually born without a right hand, but that has literally never affected anything that I have done in my life.   A lot of people don’t even notice, except for my students, they always ask me if I cut it off or got it stuck in an elevator and all kinds of crazy stuff!  And sometimes I let them think that for my own entertainment.  But really though, if anything it has made me more humble, for which I am thankful.  I have a brother that is two years younger than me and a sister that is four years younger than me.  I am not sure what kind of miracle my parents performed when we were younger, but we get along so well.  They are my best friends!  Our family is really lucky because we are so close, and talk to each other almost every day.  I went to the University of Southern Indiana to study Elementary Education, with a minor in Visual Arts, which has led me to teach art at a local elementary school.  I met my boyfriend Kelly shortly after I turned 21.  He went to USI also.  We moved in together 6 months later and have lived together ever since!  Sometimes I wonder if I should have gone away from my home town for college, but then we wouldn’t have met!  We celebrated our 3 year anniversary in December, and we hopefully walk down the aisle someday…Just sayin’!

There ya have it…My life story in 250 words.

For Day 2 (today), I am going to educate you on something I know a lot about.
But first I have to figure out what that is.

Being a grown up is for the birds.

I have to say that I have not been in the best of moods this week.  We had SUCH a good weekend, that this week has been a real kick in the pants.  We rented a cabin in Tennessee for two awesome days of fun.  It was a little chilly, and a lot rainy, but that didn't stop us from hiking, drinking, and playing!

Now I'll let the pictures do the talking.

And that my friends, is why I am in a funk this week!
