BEDIM {Day 22}

Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)

Ohhh where should I even begin????

People who are rude in restaurants?

People who complain but don't ever take any action towards their complaints?

People who are high-drama all the time?

People who don't do their jobs?

People who act like martyrs for doing their jobs?

People who blame the teachers for the bad grades instead of the students?

I could go so many different directions with this one!

But I think the thing that bothers me the most is.....

People who don't take care of their kids.

I see it every day at school.  Kids who come to school dirty with clothes that don't, shoes that are too small.  Hungry.  No homework done.  They are basically on their own, and have not even been taught simple things like brushing their teeth or their hair.

Some of these families are doing the best that they can under the circumstances, but are you really doing the best you can for your kids if you smoke five packs a day, drink like a fish, and have an iPhone...all when your kids have no food to eat?

And then I hear about people on the news, kids found in homes where meth is being made, a pregnant women who was arrested for drinking and driving...makes me sick to my stomach.

I guess that is one of the reasons that I became a teacher.  So I can make just a little bit of a positive difference in those kids' lives.  Because when they go home no one pays attention to them.  Because often times they look at their teachers more like parents than their actual parents.

That's my rant!

Hopefully tomorrow's post won't be so depressing!

What I'm Loving Wednesday and Oh How Pinteresting!

Happy May 1st!  Time to share my favs of the week with Jamie @ This Kind of Love and What I'm Loving Wednesday and Michelle @ The Vintage Apple and Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday!

I am LOVING that there is only one day of school left after today!

I am LOVING that we are having a teacher-golf scramble after our 1/2 day work-day.  I have never played golf in my life, but I hear there will be beverages.

I am LOVING that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend.  Doesn't really matter for me since I will be out of school anyways, but Kelly will be home with me!

I am LOVING that I find out about my job tonight!  (Just to jog your memory, my current art teaching position is just temporary.  I had to re-interview to keep it.  So silly, I know)

I mean really, who wouldn't want to do this again next year?

Adorbs.

I am LOVING Pinterest, although still waiting for them to go back to their old ways.

For now, you can find all of my pins here.

BEDIM {Day 21}

Bad news, I found a tick on me this morning.  I noticed that my lower back was itching, there was a tiny bump there.  When I looked it was a tick.  Gross.  Kelly was still asleep (since I get up before the rooster crows), so I had to get it off myself.  I looked like a dog chasing its tail trying to twist and contort my body to get it off.  I scraped it off with my finger nail, which in hindsight was not the smartest thing.  The country girl in me says I should have used tweezers.  Now she is afraid that I will get lime disease because part of it could still be attached to me.  Yuck yuck yuck.

Good news, I have blogged 21 days in a row!  Well, I have skipped a couple days, but I bet you didn't even notice!

Day 21: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives.

Day that make you love your job.

Does that make me crazy?

BEDIM Challenge {Day 20}

I am getting tired of typing it out, so here it goes.  Day 20 of the BEDIM Challenge.

Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.

I am currently struggling with being a "homeowner".

I put it in quotes because we don't actually own this home.  It's Kelly's dad's house, but we are occupying it until he moves here in about 4 years.

It is so hard to get everything done!

Mow the yard.
Weed the landscaping.
Spray off sidewalks and patio.
Clean gutters.
Build new screens for windows.
Hang curtains.
Hang décor.
Organize closet.
Organize entire house.
Clean entire house.

It is never-ending!

I am currently wondering how I will ever be able to manage children and a house!

I need a cleaning lady...Any takers?

5 for Five

I took a couple of weeks off, but it's time that I get back into the swing of things with Jessica @ Fantastically Average and Jenn @ Party of One!

FantasticallyAverage

Here's my goals from 2 weeks ago:

1.  Finish at least one craft project. Still doing yard work instead of crafting.  Hopefully when school gets out I will have more time to get stuff done!

2.  Unpack at least 5  boxes. Check!

3.  Put clothes away.  This was on my list of things to do yesterday, but I didn't have time to get everything done!

4.  Prepare for my interview on the 15th.  It went really well, and I will find out on Wednesday if I will still be an art teacher next year!

5.  Try a new recipe.

This was super easy!

Roast the broccoli with olive oil, garlic salt and pepper.

After roasting for 10-15 spread roasted garlic hummus on top, and return to the oven for about 5 more minutes.

Very easy and delicious!

We had our broccoli with grilled pork chops and roasted potatoes.  We even ate outside!

3 out of 5 goals, not too shabby!

Here are some goals for next week (or whenever I get them done):

1.  Put clean clothes away.

2.  Spray/ pull weeds.  We have this nasty vine stuff that keeps popping up in our landscape.  It's got to go!

3.  Hang décor on walls.

4.  Get one DIY project done.

5.  Order part for the grill.  We have a burner that is not working properly, so it takes forever to cook the food!

Here's to getting things accomplished!

TGIF! {Day 17}

I am not sure why this week has felt sooooooo long, but I am so happy that it is finally Friday!  We are going to a baseball game tonight, as long as it doesn't rain.  Thumbs up for drinking beer outside!

Share a favorite photo of yourself.

This one will come as no surprise to you guys since this is the photo that I use for myself all of the time.

This picture was when we were down in Atlanta visiting my aunt and uncle.  We were doing a little shopping in this quaint little district.  My mom stopped me to take my picture because she said I looked really pretty.  That is also my favorite dress.  And those are my favorite earrings.

I also like this one.  This is from Thanksgiving of this year.  My parents had just gotten Dierks, and while we were taking our Christmas card pictures, my sister and I snapped a few with the doggy.  Honestly I like this one because I love that sweater (it reminds me of those banana fudge bomb pops), and it's a good resolution because it was taken with a good camera, as oppose to the iphone pictures that I always use.

Okay now I feel like a total jerk for talking about pictures of myself.

Happy Friday!  Have a great weekend!

Just a little behind

So I am just a tad behind on my blogging.  I had a crazy hectic weekend and I have not even touched my computer since last Thursday! For more on that, read here.

Here is Monday's topic in the Blog Every Day in May Challenge: (I missed it due to the key debacle)

Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.
Dear Car Keys,

I am sorry for putting you where you didn't belong.

I am sorry that we dug through the entire dumpster filled with half-eaten BBQ pork sandwiches and still didn't find you.

I am sorry that an elderly most likely picked you up and put you in their crockpot to take you home with them.

I am sorry that I am an air head and lose everything.

Now will you please come back to me?

Sincerely,

Your best owner.

The time I lost my car keys.

What a weekend!  It was such a weekend that I am just now getting around to talk to about it!

Kelly's family hosts this big hog roast in his home town every year on the Saturday before Mother's Day.  It consists mostly of people ages 60-80, but there is always good food!

See all the snow tops back there?

And my BFF Megan came!

Well sometime during clean-up, I lost track of my car keys.

I had them, and I remember putting them somewhere safe where they wouldn't get thrown away.  We could not find them anywhere!

We looked in the hay...see the hay bales up there?

We dumped out every trash bag onto a tarp and picked through the trash piece by piece.  My gag reflexes were not happy with me.

Still didn't find them.

Oh did I mention that my car was locked?  And that this was not in the town we live in? And therefore we didn't have any clothes, money, makeup, and most importantly beer?  Kelly didn't have his phone.  My school bag was in there with all of my lesson plans (I was having a sub on Monday and had no way of making plans because I didn't have my plan book!).  My computer was in there.  My job interview was going to be on Wednesday, and I was going to spend my weekend preparing for it, but I had nothing to do that with!

Seriously, it was a mess!

Eventually we came to the conclusion that someone must have grabbed them.  People bring food to this thing so it is very likely that they got mixed up with someone's belongings.

So we left my car there, along with all of our stuff.  I borrowed some clothes from my friend Megan, and we stayed with Kelly's mom.

The next morning I got up early and called Triple AAA, I gave them the wrong address by mistake.  I called back, they couldn't even find me in the system!  Finally got that sorted out, then they called back and said that there was no locksmiths or dealerships open that day because it was Sunday!  By this time my phone was dead and I had no charger.  Kelly didn't have his phone, so we were using his mom's phone.

I was a crying mess on Sunday!

We also had to be back by 2:00 for a funeral visitation!  And I had no makeup!

My brother ended up picking us up on his way home from Indy (he was coming down for the funeral).  He stopped at Kelly's dad's on the way down to get us a new house key.

Thank God I took off the for the actual funeral on Monday because I spent Monday morning trying to get a locksmith to my car to make a new key, then take it to the dealership to get it programmed.  It actually worked out really well considering the circumstances.

We drove back up there Monday evening to get my car and my new key had already been paid for by Kelly's grandpa!

Then we got home and I realized that I had lost the house key that Kelly's dad gave us,,,and a $132 check!

Really?

I finally found both of those things yesterday.

I still have no classroom keys (which I am not going to mention to my principal until after I find out if I got the job or not), but everything else worked out okay!

Now if someone could please return my keys that would be great.

Blog Every Day in May {Day 12}

What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

I miss Europe.

I miss my grandma.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her.

Love ya grams!

I was never good at selling things.

Here I am again for the Blog Every Day in May Challenge.  It's been 11 days!  Today's topic is "Sell yourself in 10 words or less".  This is something that I have never been good at.

I am creative, hardworking, quirky, and love to have fun.

There ya go.  10 words.  I feel like that is a made for a caption under my profile pic on a dating website.

Happy Friday!
